A sequel to his Essex Street Quartet (2004)—which was shot in the 1970s—Gehr’s elegiac new triptych was inspired by the ongoing urban development permanently altering the working-class character of a legendary New York City neighborhood.

Yonfan’s No. 7 Cherry Lane
Jan 21–Feb 4
Winner of Best Screenplay at the 2019 Venice Film Festival, No. 7 Cherry Lane is an erotic fever dream set in Hong Kong during the anti-colonial riots of the 1960s. Yonfan’s first animated feature is an homage to cinema, literature, and the power of art to provoke memory, desire, and revolt.
