Pumpkin Smash November 3, noon-4:00pm |
It’s post-Halloween, all the candy is gone, no more tricks or treats, the costumes get packed away but there’s still that pumpkin sitting on the front porch, slowly fading away. Don’t just throw it away—bring it to the Science Center on November 3rd and we’ll drop it off the roof! The launch tube is perched four stories above the promenade and ready for your gourds. See which ones have the best splatter pattern, pieces that travel the farthest, make the biggest mess, and so much more. Also, we've partnered with Civic Works Real Food Farmand Compost Cab to ensure that no waste is being created as a result of all of the fun. All pumpkins and pumpkin goo will be collected and composted after the event.
All pumpkins must be under 15 inches in diameter and dropped off in our lobby by 2pm if you want them dropped off the roof. |

A Holiday Transformation |
November 10- January 6 |
This holiday season, the Science And Main exhibit takes on a decidedly festive flair as we decorate it for the season. The centerpiece of the exhibit will be a giant gingerbread tableau complete with Baltimore City streets, a working train, a beachfront, and woodland settings. Every component was designed and built by MSC staffers or MSC visitors in various workshops and program since the summer. See if you can spot the Bromo Seltzer tower, the bay lighthouse, an airplane pulling a banner at the beach, rowhouses from around the city, and so much more. The debut is on November 10th and will run through the new year. Don’t miss it. |

November Lunchtime Lecture |
November 9, noon-1:00pm |
Our inaugural Lunchtime Lecture was a hit with over 50 people in attendance and almost 200 more joining us online via our live feed as we learned all about life in the ER from an ER doctor who also dispelled some mythology about how and why people end up in the ER. Next up is an armchair tour of the cosmos with Dr. Jerry Bonnell as he leads us on an exploration using NASA’s vast library of space imagery. The lecture is November 9th at Noon. |
