Pi(e) Day
March 14, 10:00am-2:00pm
Every year, on March 14th (3.14) the Science Center joins people all over the globe in celebrating the circle. The mathematical formula used to measure all things circular is known as Pi and can be carried out to an infinite number of digits. Come learn more about this interesting formula with activities throughout the building including a Pi chain and hula hoops (they’re circles). Then, let’s all celebrate the day with a piece of pie! Thanks to our friends at Dangerously Delicious Pies and Moon Pie we’ll have free pie for everyone while supplies last.

IMAX Update
The work is almost done and we’re getting ready to unveil the new St. John Properties IMAX Theater. All new digital projection systems, new surround sound, a new screen—Maryland’s largest—all combine to create a complete immersive movie experience not available anywhere else. The new technology allows us to bring the latest documentary and feature films to the screen. First up is Captain Marvel and tickets are on sale now. You won’t believe the difference compared to regular movie theaters—it’s bigger, brighter, bolder, and more than just a movie.

March Theme - Women in STEM

Lunchtime Lecture:
Climate Change in the Chesapeake
March 8, Noon-1:00pm
Next up in MSC’s popular noontime lecture series is a presentation by local scientist and author Ned Tillman on the challenges the Chesapeake Bay faces as climate changes. The talk focuses on long-term benefits in a society focused on near-term issues and how we balance that as individuals, businesses, and governments. The lecture is at Noon on March 8 in the MSC Theater. Admission is free. The lecture is also live-streamed from our facebook page and archived for those who can’t join in real time.
Night at the Museum

There are still a number of dates available for MSC’s popular overnight program—Camp-In. Bring your scouts, school, or youth group to a night filled with hands-on activities, workshops, shows, and a chance to sleep in the exhibit halls. Generations of people have participated in this legacy program that has been in existence for decades. Don’t miss your chance to be a part of it.
Field Trip!

Winter is winding down (or not) and Spring Field Trip Season is almost here. Book your school field trip now, there’s still plenty of dates available. Best of all—ALL MARYLAND SCHOOLS VISIT FREE. That’s right, all Maryland schools are eligible for free admission to all three floors of exhibit halls as part of any field trip. Plus, lots of affordable add-ons are available from planetarium shows to IMAX films to classroom programs to enrich your visit. Reservationists are available to help book your trip
