This summer, we’d like to offer a little respite the best way we know––through the art of the moving image. So we dove into MoMA’s film collection and put together a series of all-time favorites and hidden gems for Virtual Views: Film Vault Summer Camp.
Each week in August, I’ll be your host as we stream films that represent the building blocks of the Department of Film. These are some of the films most requested from our archive by filmmakers and actors, eminent scholars and students just discovering the world of cinema. This week, you can enjoy “first programs”––early acquisitions from back when we were called the Film Library. Please get comfortable and start watching.
Next Thursday, August 13, join curator Rajendra Roy and director, screenwriter, and producer Todd Haynes for a live Q&A about how filmmakers use restored and archived materials to inspire new work.
