Pi(e) Day
Wednesday, March 14 10:00am - 2:00pm
Pi(e) Day is a celebration of the mathematical constant Pi, a number used to calculate the circumference of a circle, and a celebration of the sweet, circular baked dessert! Help us build a lengthy Pi chain as we string the digits of Pi along the main staircase. Take a chance at getting Pi(ed) in the face during the Pi Roulette. Gather round as we drop pie tins full of funky fillings off the roof to see which makes the biggest splat. Dangerously Delicious Pies will even be donating pies for the party (a free slice for all attendees!). Make sure to save a little room for the pie eating contest, though, because the winner goes home with a free pie from Dangerously Delicious Pies!
Terrarium Design with B. Willow Saturday, March 31 10:30am - 12:30pm
Out with those wintertime blues and in with fabulous springtime greens! Celebrate the arrival of spring and bring a little piece of nature inside your home with the Maryland Science Center and B. Willow’s Terrarium Workshop. Each participant will choose a reclaimed glass to house their terrarium. Then, the experts from B. Willow will lead you in the layering of charcoal, rocks, and soil and the placement of plants to build your own one-of-a-kind glass garden. Spruce up any coffee table or kitchen counter with these tiny greeneries that are sure to be a conversation piece. Cost is $20 per person and includes all supplies and museum admission. There is no member discount for our workshop programs. Anyone under 16 must participate with an adult, who must also register.
